Family engagement is the number one factor that can determine successful outcomes for students.
Talk about what family engagement looks like in your PTA as well as your School Accountability Committee and how you might increase that engagement. Are your Parent Teacher Conferences engaging or is there a better way to hold these conferences to encourage access and inclusion? How can we make all of our activities more welcoming and inclusive for all families so they can support their children? Try to avoid the use of acronyms and ask your staff to also make efforts to remove them from their vocabulary during meetings. It’s an adjustment but it makes participation more accessible for all families who want to participate.

Here’s a training you can do in the comfort of your own home OR it would be a good presentation and conversation for any PTA meeting – Transformative Family Engagement. Please take the time to do this and use the worksheets.
You’ll also find several helpful resources on the National PTA Center for Family Engagement website – https://www.pta.org/center-for-family-engagement.
Become familiar with the 6 National Standards created by National PTA, they’re successfully being used in school districts and organizations across the country. Your support of PTA made these resources possible!
We hope you’ll use the Transformative Family Engagement training for your PTA meeting. Let us know how your conversation goes at info@jeffcopta.org. If you have ideas for us to share with other PTAs, we’d love to know!
